Beacon Management Sponsors Family in Need at Christmas.
One of Beacon’s core values – Caring for Others – came to life during the Christmas season by sponsoring a local family in need. We had the pleasure of meeting Esmeralda and her two children, Daisy and Eduardo at their home over the holidays. They live in Gainesville, GA and like many people today, struggle to afford life’s basic necessities, much less pay for holiday presents at Christmas.
As it turns out, our mobile maintenance technician, Fernando Collado, attends church with them and let us know about their challenging situation. Essentially, they had little to no furniture in their small rental home.
Almost immediately, the Beacon team mobilized around the family by starting a fundraising campaign on Go Fund Me for the purpose of buying furniture and household essentials. Team members opened their hearts and pocketbooks by donating over $1,000 which was matched dollar for dollar by Beacon founders, Steve Weibel and Lisa Simmons. Then the shopping commenced for just the right merchandise. Before long, we found a beautiful new living room set with side tables, lamps and a large area rug that fit perfectly in their home! We also presented stockings full of special surprises. During the visit, Daisy serenaded us with a mesmerizing version of Blue Christmas and told us about her dreams of becoming a nurse in prenatal care.
What a blessing – for them and especially for us! Our team was grateful that Beacon Management lived its core values by helping others in need. We raised over $2k and delivered more than furniture to our Christmas family! We made this holiday truly memorable to everyone who was involved and for all the right reasons!!
